Live from Dwell on Design
Posted on | June 26, 2009 | 2 Comments
I’ll be visiting the combined Dwell on Design / Mobius LA conference on Friday on behalf of the GDC and Archinect.com. I’ll be live-blogging here all day about what I see, and as I tend to gravitate naturally towards more “sustainable” products or projects, please leave a comment if you think there is something in particular that I should check out.
I’m also meeting with Arthur Rubinfeld, President of Starbucks Global Development, in the afternoon to talk to him about… well what SHOULD a green designer talk to a CEO-type about, anyway? Leave any questions you have for Arthur here!

I think only CEOs are CEO-types. I wouldn’t refer to Arthur Rubinfeld as a CEO-type. How about how Starbucks deals with sustainability while operating a global business with so many resources used in the transportation of goods and products around the world? Or something to that effect…

Did you had the chance to discover the new collection of Varian Designs made by Forest Dickey? (www.variandesigns.com)
Check his website, it’s a great one, you will love it.
This new collection called Broen was launched last week-end at the *Dwell on Design Convention* and people literally just loved it.
Varian has a very distinct rustic-modern aesthetic that works both in a more traditional and a more contemporary home. Designer Forest Dickey mixes the architectural lines of steel with the warmth of reclaimed wood (from whiskey casks – yum!) to create something truly special.
If you want to know more about him and his work, let me know, I’ll send you more information and pictures.
